Ways to Serve

First Response Program : This programs meets the need for beds, bedding, car seats, and more.  This is a great way to work with your small group, family, or other TFI volunteers to meet needs of families and children in our community (TFI provides all the items). Our delivery teams share the best stories ~ like watching a child go from sleeping on the floor to jumping on their new bed being a joy that you will not soon forget.

LIGHT ~ Living In God’s Hope Together:  Individuals and families seeking community connection and to build new healthy relationships often won’t walk into a church because they feel scared or unworthy.  Would you be willing to greet a new friend or family at your church?  Email Katy to find out how easy it is to help.

Agency Appreciation:  Do you love to make crafts, bake treats, plan fun appreciation lunches, spend time on Pinterest, and have a talent in hospitality. This is the place for you!

Project Sunshine/Project Renovate: If you like to transform spaces and help with handyman repairs then reach out today.  Project Sunshine turn old Agency rooms into fun fresh space for them to enjoy.  It is amazing what some paint and updates decorations can do!   Project Renovates help to meet the needs for foster and vulnerable families in need of minor repairs.  From power washing siding to patching dry wall this is a great way to use your “fixer upper” talents.

Fill a Need

The Forgotten Initiative provides the following resources:

  • Journey Bags : Often children come into care with little to no possessions of their own.  Journey Bags provide clothes, comfort items, hygiene products, and more!  This also allows Caseworkers and Foster parents to focus on the child and not on “things” as they are transitioning into care.  To fill a Journey Bag please request a bag tag.
  • Caseworker Car Kits : Foster Children can spend a lot of time in a vehicle as they travel to appointments and visits with family.  Car kits provide items to help care for the children and provide some fun!  Request more information on filling a caseworker car kit.
  • Safety and Cleaning Items :  These items help keeps families safe! There are times that families need simple items like a baby gate or cleaning supplies to help care for their family.  These are great items to collect at school, as a team, or at work.  Let us help you coordinate a drive or put together a Safety/Cleaning basket.
  • Gift Cards :  TFI provides agencies with $5-20 dollar gift cards to places like Walmart and fast food restaurants.  We also provide them to foster kiddos who may need a special outfit, sports equipment, or other need.  This is a fun way for families and businesses to give back too! Set out a coin jar, run a lemonade stand, or have a car wash.  The opportunities to collect money to purchase gift cards is endless.
  • Bedding/Pillows: We are always in need of twin bedding sets for our first response program.  This will provide new bedding and pillows to kids as they transition into care or to a local intact family in need.
  • Appreciation Items: We are in need of items to show appreciation for a job well done.  From home made treats to fun craft items too…these items are given to case workers and foster parents to remind them that we appreciate them!
  • Find out more! Email Shannon @

There are always request for resources like diapers, wipes, house hold items, teen care items, and more.  Reach out to find out how you can help.

The Forgotten Initiative offers several events through out the year.

  • Spring Break Packs : Totes full of food and fun for foster families to enjoy over spring break.
  • Foster Parent Night Out : The kids get to play while the parents get away!
  • Foster Parent Coffee Breaks. If you are a foster or adoptive parent reach out for more information.
  • Summer Play Days!  Foster families meet at local parks to let the kids play why they spend some time together.
  • Foster Family Back to School Bash! This pool party is to celebrate foster families and the beginning of a new school year.
  • November Night At The Movies.  Join fellow foster parents for a free night at the movie!
  • Christmas party!  Foster parents enjoy a nice evening of food and entertainment while the children have a blast in the kid zone.
